About Salty Waves Salon

Salty Waves Salon opened in May of 2016. After years of running other local salons, Tonya Carter decided to create her own style salon. The vision was to create a 'come as you are' atmosphere, where everyone felt at home and welcomed. With many choices for locals and tourists to choose from, Salty Waves Salon needed something to set them apart. They carry products that are sulfate free such as Bumble and Bumble and chose a color line, L'Anza, that is one of the most organic color lines.

One of the number one things that the staff prides themselves on is the ability to properly consult with clients. Tonya felt that after years in the business and listening to people and listening to staff, that that was the number one problem with people being unhappy. Another great thing is that our clients are thankful that we know their name, they are not just a client or a number. They truly feel like a priority.

Salty Waves continues their education many times a year by traveling all over the country, to ensure they stay up to date on all the new trends. They continue to grow and are in hopes of offering many more services in the future.

Salon Owner & Stylist
Specialty: Color & Cuts

I opened Salty Waves Salon in May 2016 with a dream of creating a welcoming & come as you are environment in a local Midcoast Maine salon. I have been in the business for 14+ years and have run other local salons, but felt it was time to take on my own to create that dream.

I have traveled all over the United States to advance my education and stay up to date with current styles. I went to school at Capilo Institute in Augusta, Maine. I love being a cosmetologist and pride myself in my ability to properly consult with my clients. We all see the same image differently, so my job is to consult properly to make sure we both see the same thing.

I live in Friendship, Maine, a little fishing village in Midcoast Maine. I have raised four beautiful children and am excited to focus on my career and build my business to be bigger and better now that I have completed my #1 focus. Some of my hobbies and interest include traveling to new locations whenever possible. Whether it be to watch sporting events, somewhere warm in the cold winter months or to educate myself in the beauty industry. I also love summertime in Maine, anything at the beach or on the water is the best!!

Emma Young, Salty Waves Salon Nail Technician & Makeup Artist

Nail Technician & Makeup Artist
Specialty: Nail Art, Special Occasion Makeup, Theatrical Makeup

I have been at Salty Waves Salon since our opening in May of 2016. I have been in the beauty industry for 6 years after attending Capilo Institute in Augusta Maine, in 2012.

I was attracted to this industry originally because I enjoy helping others feel beautiful, and because of its ever changing trends. To stay up to date, every year I travel to Florida and occasionally Massachusetts to further my education and stay up to date on the latest techniques, trends, safety procedures, and products. Due to my training, I pride myself on my ability to create beautiful long lasting nails without damaging the integrity of the natural nail.

Growing up in Lincolnville, and currently living in Rockland I am a Mid-Coast native. I enjoy being able to provide quality services in and for the community I care so much about. Outside of work I enjoy making creative content and tutorials online to teach others about cosmetics and skincare. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, etc.

She has taken many classes from basic color to color correction, blonding/balayage technique classes, hair cutting and styling, lash lift and tinting, and is also Novalash-certified just to name a few.

Rebecka is very passionate and loves every aspect of her career. Not being from this part of Maine, she loves getting to know new and exciting people.

In her spare time, Rebecka loves spending time with her family and friends. Being a native of beautiful Maine, she also loves being outdoors as much as possible and exploring new and wonderful things only nature can provide.

I've been doing hair for 10 years . I went to school in 2007 in Augusta at Capilos, now known as the Aveda Institute. The greatest part about being a cosmetologist is no two cuts/colors are the same they are unique to each person which makes the job so much fun and flexible to do . I live in Lincolnville with my 6 year old daughter where we love to play and do crafts or other projects .
